If you are coming to Pittsburgh for a game, staying downtown takes some of the usual game-day logistics off your plate. You do not need to rent a car or deal with North Shore game-day parking. Instead, you can walk, ride the T across the river, or take the boat, and treat downtown as your home base for the weekend.

Where to Eat Before Kickoff

Eating early is one of the easiest ways to avoid the pre-game rush. The Millhouse, located inside Joinery Hotel, serves a dedicated game-day menu with hearty comfort food and shareable options.

For a full meal, try the half-pound Wagyu hot dog on a pretzel bun with bacon onion jam or the double smashburger, stacked with bacon and American cheese between two griddled cheese sandwiches. 

If you are stopping by with a group for drinks before heading across the river, the menu also includes shareables like Reuben egg rolls, spinach-artichoke dip, and smoked chicken wings tossed in sauces ranging from honey chipotle to espresso dust.

Tip: The dining room fills up fast as kickoff approaches. Aim to sit down two hours before game time so you are not rushing through your meal.

Pick Up Gear Before You Head Out

Getting to Acrisure Stadium

• The River Ferry (Gateway Clipper): For a scenic route, head to Station Square to catch the Gateway Clipper. The ferry runs shuttle boats on game days, dropping passengers at the North Shore wharf near the stadium.
• Rideshares and Driving: One thing to skip: driving or taking a rideshare directly to the stadium right before kickoff. Game-day traffic and road closures around the North Shore can turn a short drive into a long crawl, making walking or taking the T significantly faster.

Watching the Steelers Downtown at EP Lounge
